I caught Bruce a few times last year when he was rolling in the FSL, haven't seen Lind. I'd caution you not to form an opinion based on one game, but I already know you understand that. Nice report!

Yeah I went out yesterday to check out the Bats and Chiefs play the 1st game of a double header. Here was my take on Jay Bruce and Adam Lind.

I went to watch the Chiefs and Bats today and lets just say i'm less sold on Jay Bruce becoming an impact player after watching him today. 1st AB, immediatly goes down 0-2 after taking a strike and then swinging at a breaking pitch. He grounded out to 2nd base on the next pitch. 2nd AB, again goes down 0-2 then takes a pitch for a ball. The next pitch, the pitchers throws a breaking ball which Bruce misses badly on a hit and run. 3rd AB he got down in the count again and hit a weak grounder to 2nd which the 2nd baseman booted for an error. 4th AB he got down 0-2 took a pitch and fanned on another breaking pitch. If he can't hit or take that breaking pitch in the AAA, then how is he going to hit in the majors. I left after that but I guess Bruce K'd again swinging and ended up going 0-6 in the game. He showed his bat speed at times but was also in front of a lot of pitches so his timing is way off or he's playing hurt. Bruce also shouldn't be playing in center. He had average range to me, but his throwing was all over the place. Twice he overthrew the cutoff man and then he tried throwing a guy out at 3rd he had no shot at which allowed the guy who got the hit advance to 2nd who eventually scored. I was far more impressed by Adam Lind in this game who almost hit a homer to dead center(hit it over 380 and would be out anywhere else in the stadium) and drove in a run and drew a walk.
